Let’s Demystify Your Codes And Save You Money

Do you have multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) codes when scanning your hybrid? It could just be the HV traction battery that’s your main issue, and sometimes it could be something else - get some straight answers from PriusKings here.

P0A80 and P30** code
The P0A80 code is often coupled with other diagnostic codes. You may see a series of P30** codes which will point to a problem within a specific battery block inside your hybrid battery.

Code P3011 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 1 in your hybrid battery.

Code P3012 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 2 in your hybrid battery

Code P3013 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 3 in your hybrid battery

Code P3014 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 4 in your hybrid battery

Code P3015 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 5 in your hybrid battery

Code P3016 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 6 in your hybrid battery

Code P3017 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 7 in your hybrid battery

Code P3018 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 8 in your hybrid battery

Code P3019 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 9 in your hybrid battery

Code P3020 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 10 in your hybrid battery

Code P3021 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 11 in your hybrid battery

Code P3022 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 12 in your hybrid battery

Code P3023 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 13 in your hybrid battery

Code P3024 is generated when your vehicle detects a lower level of voltage within battery block 14 in your hybrid battery

You could ALSO see some codes that may point to a larger systemic issue. For example, a P0A78 identifies that you are having a problem with your vehicle’s inverter or hybrid drive. Your inverter is the main component of your vehicle’s hybrid system as it converts DC current from your hybrid battery to AC current to power your electric motor. It also converts AC current back to DC current created by your vehicle’s wheels turning and regenerative braking system.

Typically with code POA78 your hybrid battery will become depleted as it can not be charged properly due to a failed inverter. The failed inverter must be replaced or repaired prior to the hybrid battery replacement as you will be risking another failed hybrid battery until the inverter is functioning properly and can properly charge the hybrid battery as it should.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Other installers and so-called “technicians” will be happy to replace your hybrid battery - even if you don’t need it - or if you’ll need one again! PriusKings prides itself on never entering that situation with our customers - it’s why our customer service is #1.
